Food Insecurity: Little Free Food Pantry Project

Updated: Jan 15, 2023

In the spring of 2022, youth at Medina United Church of Christ Congregational participated in our pilot project to build snack packs for Little Free Food Pantries in Medina, Ohio. Church members generously donated unexpired foods that kids like to eat after school and built packs of four to be delivered by youth and adults from Medina UCCC through the school year and summer. The kids learned about food insecurity in Medina from the steward of the Prospect Street Little Free Food Pantry (431 W. Washington Street, Medina, Ohio), Jan Simmons. The kids have built and are delivering 350 snack packs and counting, built BY kids, FOR kids. This project happened in connection with Global Youth Service Day #GYSD2022 and we are proud to announce we are a grant recipient for a future project.
